Schools and Departments
 

School of Graduate Studies
  Established in 1979, the School of Graduate Studies grants Master’s degrees in four primary disciplines, 22 secondary disciplines and four professional programs. It is also entitled to grant Master’s degrees to applicants with the academic competence equivalent to that of the graduate students, and offers a Doctoral program in the discipline of Foreign Language & Literature, training “talents to serve the nation’s special needs”.

Graduate School of Translation and Interpretation
  The Graduate School of Translation and Interpretation offers two graduate programs: Simultaneous Interpretation (SI) in English and Japanese and Master of Translation and Interpreting (MTI) in English, Japanese, Russian, French, German, Spanish, Korean and Arabic , aiming to cultivate high-caliber and professionally competent translators and interpreters. It also delivers high-end translating and interpreting services to the municipal government, contributing itself to Tianjin's economic and social development.

Honors College
  As a Pilot Demonstration Project of Tianjin’s Education System Reform, the Honors College nurtures top-notch talents with strong abilities of self-directed learning and intercultural communication as well as a good knowledge of international rules. It adopts a model of “major + foreign language” and currently offers four programs of Finance, Financial Management, International Economy & Trade and International Business which focus on teaching professional knowledge while developing students’ proficiency in English and Japanese.

School of English Studies
  The School of English Studies consists of four departments: Translation & Interpretation, English Language, Culture & Literature, Media & Communication and International Business. English is an important component of Foreign Language & Literature which is a Municipal-level Key Discipline under the “12th Five-year Plan”, and a Major with Distinctive Features under the MOE; English and Translation & Interpretation are Municipal-level Prestigious Majors; Translation & Interpretation is also a Municipal-level Pilot Project of Comprehensive Reform on Undergraduate Education; Business English is a Major Related to Tianjin’s Strategic Emerging Industries.

School of Japanese Studies
  The School of Japanese Studies is divided into three departments: International Business, Translation & Interpretation and Japanese Culture. It boasts two State-level Top-quality Courses and one State-level Top-quality Resources Sharing Course. It has won two State-level Teaching Achievement Awards and established two Municipal-level Innovative Teaching Teams and one State-level Teaching Team. Japanese is a Major with Distinctive Features under the MOE, a Pilot Project of Comprehensive Reform on Undergraduate Education under the MOE and a Municipal-level Prestigious Major.

School of European Studies
  The School of European Studies is composed of six departments: Russian, French, German, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese. Among the programs offered, Russian (a Major with Distinctive Features under the MOE), French and German are Municipal-level Prestigious Majors; Spanish is a Major Related to Tianjin’s Strategic Emerging Industries.

School of Asian and African Studies
  The School of Asian and African Studies has seven departments— Korean, Arabic, Swahili, Indonesian, Burmese, Malaysian and Thai, and grants Master’s degrees in the programs of Korean and Arabic. Korean is a Major with Distinctive Features under the MOE and a Municipal-level Prestigious Major.

School of International Business
  The School of International Business consists of six departments: International Economy, International Economy & Trade, International Finance, International Business, International Accounting and Management Engineering. It confers Master’s degrees in Theoretical Economics and Management Science & Engineering, and also in International Business, a professional program. World Economics is a Municipal-level Key Discipline, International Economy & Trade, a Municipal-level Prestigious Major, and Finance (Financial Planning), a Major Related to Tianjin’s Strategic Emerging Industries.

School of International Communication
  The School of International Communication is divided into four departments— Chinese Language & Literature, Journalism & Communication, Advertising & Animation and Educational Technology & Digital Media, offering seven undergraduate programs of Chinese Language & Literature, Journalism, Communication, Advertising, Animation, Education Technology and Digital Media Technology. It confers Master’s degrees in Chinese Language & Literature, a Municipal-level Key Discipline, and also in Journalism & Communication, a professional program. The school has a Ministerial & Provincial level Demonstration Center for Experimental Teaching.

School of International Politics and Law
  The School of International Politics and Law is composed of two departments— Law and Politics & Public Management, offering four undergraduate programs of Law, a Municipal-level Prestigious Major, Administrative Management, International Politics and Diplomacy. It confers Master’s degrees in Northeast Asia Studies, and offers a training program in “International Politics & Diplomacy” and other programs featuring “major + foreign language”.

School of International Exchange
  The School of International Exchange consists of two departments— Chinese Language & Culture and Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (TCSOL). It grants Master’s degrees in Chinese Philology and Linguistics & Applied Linguistics, and also in TCSOL, a professional program and a Major Related to Tianjin’s Strategic Emerging Industries.

School of Continuing Education

  The School of Continuing Education offers adult education and self-study examination programs as well as language training services. It plays an active part in establishing a lifelong education system and a learning-oriented society while producing professional talents with strong foreign language competency.
